The history of our town
The archeological finds ("Bonyhád axe", celtic pottery, bronze age weapons, Roman coins, avar graves) in the Völgység region located in the Tolna Hills prove that this area attracted people since the ancient times for millennia. The continuity of settling is undimished since the foundation of the Hungarian state. The importance of the settlement bearing the name of the tribe of Bonya ("Bucna") is considerable even in the Middle Ages(14th century St Ivan Abbey monastery on the Óhegy hill,)
